Wednesday Aug 21 Rest Day 9
Kalispell (Mont)
An easy day today even as Rest Day’s go.
Very warm outside and not inclined to exert myself very much.
Rose around 7 out of habit and that’s the time to make phone calls home and getting news of quite different weather there.
And a special Birthday Wish to Saoirse, our granddaughter in San Jose. Enjoy all the celebrations, Saoirse....a talented girl.
Since all laundry was done and bike looked after I didn’t have much housework to do. It was off down to Joe’s Barber in the oldtown for a bit of vanity work. Joe, I think refers to Josephine, and I was her first customer at 9am. She was meticulous and I was in the chair for more than 30 mins just for a cut. That’s more than my usual experience. But she did a good job according to my instructions. I asked her what I should see in Kalispell on my one day here. She had to think for a long long time and I got the message. Her hand was unsteady on the camera but professionally solid with the scissors.
Kalispell is a town of 22,000 inhabitants and is spread over a large area..7 km across town and at an elevation of 1,000 m. The Main Street has a western feel to it and was surprised to see a great number of banks. I dropped into a thrift shop and donated my last book. I’ve finished 4 now and am equipped with another one. Might keep me going till the end.
And I came by the local Irish pub, Brannigans, but didn’t venture inside in case I might upset some of the readers!!
Back at base by early afternoon and concentrated on packing for the next 3 days and the end of the ‘Road to the Sun ‘ section, section 4. That will be the last of the short 3-day sections.
Will go for a light snack this evening, not for a big steak like last night.
Thank God for a lovely day.
